Taking portraits in a studio with props that have been used over and over is not a reflection of individuality. If the photo backdrop consists of real locations, the photos will not only reflect the person being photographed, but also the places that are important to them as a senior in high school.
Typical photo session locations include downtowns, parks, ballfields, and back yards. If a high school senior has great memories spending time with friends in a local downtown or park, it makes sense to take photographs there.
If you are located outside of southeast Michigan and you get several friends to book with you, we will waive or substantially reduce our travel fee. If 3 or more book together for the same day and location, we will discount our session fees too. We welcome clients from Metro Detroit, Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, Lansing, Toledo, and elsewhere.
Portraits by Rod is priced using a simple, easy-to-understand approach. There is no forceful salesperson pressuring clients to buy packages they don’t need. The photo experience is designed to be relaxing and enjoyable.

Redwood Studios is NOT a high volume studio. We limit the number of high school seniors because we do not want to be a factory line senior portrait studio.
We have heard experiences where dozens of seniors are in line waiting to move along a line of several photographers to get their portraits. This is NOT the senior picture experience you should have. In addition to being an impersonal assembly line, they tend to be more expensive than Redwood! We believe our portrait experience is superior because we get to know you and you spend your entire session is with one photographer.
