Taking portraits in a studio with props that have been used over and over is not a reflection of individuality. If the photo backdrop consists of real locations, the photos will not only reflect the person being photographed, but also the places that are important to them as a senior in high school.
Typical photo session locations include downtowns, parks, ballfields, and back yards. If a high school senior has great memories spending time with friends in a local downtown or park, it makes sense to take photographs there.
If you are located outside of southeast Michigan and you get several friends to book with you, we will waive or substantially reduce our travel fee. If 3 or more book together for the same day and location, we will discount our session fees too. We welcome clients from Metro Detroit, Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, Lansing, Toledo, and elsewhere.
Portraits by Rod is priced using a simple, easy-to-understand approach. There is no forceful salesperson pressuring clients to buy packages they don’t need. The photo experience is designed to be relaxing and enjoyable.

So if you ended up not liking the pictures, you could walk away losing only $20 and your time. That's unheard of in this business. You will most likely find packages elsewhere, I don't do packages because my prices are low enough that if you added up the session and print prices together and compare that with what was someplace else you will find that my pricing most of the time is better. Packages force you to pick picture sizes that you did not really want. My pricing allows you to choose just what you want and not more. I do perform editing and will edit only one picture of yours prior to you selecting the pictures you want to have printed. I edit one so you can get a feel for what editing will do for the subject.
So what else stands me apart from the competition? I'm not an assembly line, I take my time until I get the lights exactly the way I want them. Because of this, I usually will not do mid-day outdoor pictures. I'll take them either early or late in the day.
I take pictures because I love to do it; and my goal is for you to have as much fun as I will. I look forward to the opportunity to capture you!
