I've always had a passion for photography. I remember Christmas '96 when I asked Santa for a camera. For some reason I was expecting something extravagant. I got a purple 35mm Vivitar. My passion died for a few years.
Around that time I started playing drums. It became my obsession. Although I'm still a little upset about the purple Vivitar, my parents more than made up for it by putting up with mini Buddy Rich upstairs.
In high school I started landing gigs and playing shows around the Midwest. This trend continued into college. After a short stay at Anderson University I moved to Indianapolis - the land of opportunity. I worked a few different jobs - sales, warehouse, retail, resturant - all the while pursuing my love for music. Tha's when I got my first 'real' camera.
My first real camera was a Nikon N75 (film!) with a 50mm lens. I started taking it to shows with me to photograph the other bands while I waited to go on stage. At this point it's safe to assume boredom fueled my creativity. I somehow managed to get some cool shots and it sparked my interest further.
This is about the time I met my fiance and her beautiful baby girl. Luckily I met someone that likes buying things for me. I mentioned my interest in photography and somehow ended up with my first semi-professional digital camera.
Shortly thereafter I landed a job with a local architectural photographer. It was mostly a sales job but I got the opportunity to assist on a shoot every now and then. Those were the days that my brain was working overtime - taking every little mental not possible.
Here's what the next couple years looked like...
(Reading + Experimenting + Failure) x 72626363 = I'm getting a little better.
Finally I decided it was time to start pursuing my passion. Here we are.
Cheers,
